Mertim Gokalp is a Sydney-based, award-winning artist and tattooist. Originally from Istanbul, he was awarded a Distinguished Talent visa by the Australian Government and later granted citizenship for his artistic achievements.
His work has been exhibited internationally in Hong Kong, Singapore and Contemporary Istanbul and has been showcased in major Australian institutions such as the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Portrait Gallery and Parliament House. A finalist in the Archibald and Moran Prizes, he has also won the Kennedy Art Prize and the Hunters Hill Art Prize twice.
Bringing fine art expertise into tattooing, Mertim specialises in black & grey and colour realism, crafting unique tattoos inspired by mythology, history and cinematography.
